Marcia Franklin talks with Idaho writer Esther Emery about her first book, “What Falls from the Sky,” which chronicles her year without the internet in 2009. The two talk about what precipitated Emery’s experiment, the challenges involved, and what she learned.

Emery, the daughter of Carla Emery, a well-known back-to-the-land movement proponent, also discusses her ‘off the grid’ life in the mountains near Boise.
